Girlfriend Getaways in the Spring

  • Written by News Feature Team

Warm spring temperatures call for outdoor adventure, and there’s no one better to enjoy a beautiful spring day with than your girlfriends. Plan a road trip with your girlfriends this spring. After securing an
RV rental, you and your friends will be ready to hit the open road. Try one of these road trips for an unforgettable spring escape.

Cherry Blossom Road Trip

Pops of pink take over Washington D.C. every spring when cherry blossoms are in full bloom, transforming the nation’s capital into a floral masterpiece. Plan a road trip around D.C.’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from mid-March to mid-April every year. The cherry blossom trees are typically in full bloom in early April, which coincides with spring temperatures making their debut in D.C. Before or after you and your girlfriends take in the festival, spend some time in Virginia’s nearby wine country. In neighboring Loudon County, check out Notaviva Vineyards, which offers a unique tasting experience that pairs their wines with coordinating music. Paradise Springs Winery in nearby Clifton is a scenic spot where you can take in a tour and tasting or pack a picnic lunch to pair with some of the winery’s best selections.

Climbing the California Coast

Toss the directions out the window and set your sights on California’s Pacific Coast Highway, a getaway with plenty of pit stops perfect for you and your girlfriends. In addition to the scenic view out of your RV window, this California road trip also delivers plenty of action. Stop in Santa Cruz and spend a day at the boardwalk, where you can find that inner kid again and enjoy games, rides, and delicious food. Go surfing in Venice, do a little window shopping and brunching in Malibu, or check out San Francisco’s stately Golden Gate Bride for some serious sightseeing. A journey on the PCH takes 10 hours from start to finish, and you can customize this road trip to suit your style.

A Southern Adventure

Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina, are separated by just a 2-hour drive, which makes them perfect partners for a Southern-style road trip for the girls. Both rich in history and scenery, these cities offer a variety of activities perfect for gorgeous Southern springtime weather. In Charleston, you can stroll up and down cobblestone streets for dining and boutique shopping. Visit the Charleston Farmers Market, which kicks off on Saturdays in April, for fresh food and plenty of entertainment. At night, sip on some cocktails with your girlfriends in one of the city’s two entertainment districts: Market Street or Upper King.

The next day, head south to Savannah, where you’ll find no shortage of fun. If you and the girls are Hollywood fans, go on a movie tour, where you can see where movies like Forrest Gump were filmed. If you want to scream, take an evening ghost tour of haunted Savannah. Spend a day on River Street, where you’ll find plenty of spots to wine and dine. City Market, a two-block area, offers a day’s worth of entertainment, with its shops, restaurants, art galleries, and nightlife.

An RV road trip with the girls is within reach this spring, whether you want to cruise down the Pacific coast, visit our nation’s capital, or go on a Southern-style adventure. Enjoy warm temperatures and bright sunshine when you and the girls take on the open road.
